> Junior Developer (Co-op) @ Delta Intelligent Building Technologies Inc.
> 4th Year Computer Engineering Student @ UBC
Hey all. My name's Hansen and I'm studying Computer Engineering at UBC. I've got 20 months of co-op/internship experience, and am looking to explore a new position before I return to school in September. I am passionate about software development and personal growth through learning by doing, and thus enjoy doing personal projects on my own time. Head over to the porfolio tab to check some of them out!
I am currently working as a Junior Developer (Co-op) with the Research Team at Delta Intelligent Building Technologies Inc. I work independently to create proof-of-concepts that investigate how to apply advances in LLMs and the Semantic Web to the next generation of building automation solutions. I am particularly proud that one of my projects was recently showcased at AHR Expo, the HVACR industry's largest trade show.
I previously worked as a Software Developer (Co-op) at Reliable Controls Corporation, contributing to the development of their flagship software by producing documentation and implementing improvements, features, bugfixes, and substantial refactors of legacy code.
I am also involved in an engineering student design team and have completed various personal projects to demonstrate my skills. Some of the more notable projects are showcased on this site.
Software Engineering: I am experienced in multiple programming languages, including Python, C/C++, Rust, and C#. I've worked in both traditional, Agile ticket-based software development teams as well as more independent roles. I am detail and solution-oriented, highly proficient in algorithms and software design, and able to collaborate and innovate as needed to produce results.
Adaptability: I am a quick learner. I understand myself and how to make myself learn effectively, which is reflected in my strong academic performance and my ability to hit the ground running when starting a new co-op position. My talent in producing excellent work while needing minimal direction is a source of pride.
AI/ML: Working in a R&D focused position as my current internship has exposed me to several cutting-edge technologies, chief among them being the recent advances in LLMs. I am skilled in various techniques and frameworks for LLM usage, such as prompt engineering and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG). My experience extends to developing LLM-powered applications, where I have designed AI agents and workflows using multiple providers (OpenAI, AWS) and their models.
